Health Informatics Research Group

The USA health informatics research group is currently focused on two major areas of research, education and outreach: risk assessment of healthcare systems and health informatics curriculum development. Our research group includes Full, Associate, and Assistant professors from both the school of CIS and the College of Nursing an industry partners.

The USA health informatics group is emerging as a center of research for risk assessment of healthcare data and systems and pedagogical innovations in health informatics curriculum and education. We are seeking colleagues with mutual interests to pursue publication and grant opportunities in our identified research themes or closely related areas.

	Dr. Harold Pardue hpardue@southalabama.edu	Dr. Pardue is a Dean for Graduate Studies and a Professor of the Information Systems department in the School of Computing. His Ph.D. in MIS is from the Florida State University, 1996. His current research interests include Security and Risk assessment in voting and healthcare systems, and health informatics and Information Systems education. His work has been published in a wide variety of venues.
	Dr. Matt Campbell mattcampbell@southalabama.edu	Dr. Campbell is an Associate Professor of Information Systems in the School of Computing and coordinator of the Health Informatics degree programs. His Ph.D. in MIS is from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, 2010. His current research interests include end user security behavior and and Health Informatics education. His work has been published in a variety of journals and conferences.
	Dr. Ellen Buckner PhD, RN, CNE ebuckner@southalabama.edu	Dr. Buckner is Professor in the College of Nursing and coordinates the Nursing Honors and RN-BSN/MSN tracks. She has extensive experience research pedagogy having supervised over 150 undergraduate research projects in honors and faculty clinical projects. Her clinical informatics research interests include secondary data analysis and strategic applications of the school health electronic database.
	Dr. Amy Campbell amycampbell@southalabama.edu	Dr. Amy Campbell is an Assistant Professor of the Information Systems Department in the School of Computing and has been instrumental in the formation of the Health Informatics Bachelor's Degree Program. Prior to joining USA, she was a Hospice Nurse in Statesville, NC. Her research interests include patient centered technology and healthcare resource optimization. She has collaborated with multiple School of Computing faculty and her research has appeared in the journal Communications of the AIS.
