Black Alumni Society

Greetings Fellow Jags,
In 2019, a few of your fellow Jags met on campus to start the Black Alumni Society (BAS). COVID caused us to stumble a little. However, I am glad to say it didn’t stop us. We are not where we want or should be, but we are here. I encourage all black alumni to join us as we work to support current and future black students at the University of South Alabama.

Our vision is to:

  • Encourage USA Black Alumni to support the goals and mission of the University of South Alabama
  • To increase the black student engagement through communication, outreach, networking, education, and events to serve as a voice for USA Black Alumni.
  • To serve as professional mentors to future and current black students and alumni.
  • To promote scholarship assistance to black students and guide them to a successful degree completion.

This year we have several programs in which we would like to have your support. 1) Monthly lunch sponsored by the BAS. 2) Black History Month – Career Networking Social, and 3) Black Alumni Weekend.

September 21-23, 2023, Black Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.

The second Thursday of each month the BAS sponsors lunch for current students at the Multicultural Leadership Center on Campus.

February 2024, we will co-host the 3 rd Annual Career Networking Social with the National Alumni Association at the MacQueen Alumni Center.

Please let know if you will join us, or would like to serve on a committee by emailing me at
