External Scholarships are awarded by employers, companies, civic organizations, high schools, religious groups, and professional associations independent of the University of South Alabama. The criteria for external opportunities differs from scholarship to scholarship, but can include academic performance, financial need, religious affiliation, minority status, heritage, community affiliations, or other unique criteria. Please be advised that the USA Office of Scholarship Services is impartial to the views and opinions of the scholarships featured. The listing will be continuously updated, and new scholarships will be posted when they become available. Eligibility requirements and application deadlines may change without our knowledge. Susan Lindahl Memorial Scholarship Physician Assistant |
The Susan Lindahl Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998. Susan, the wife of our founding president Joe Lindahl, passed away following a battle with a brain tumor in 1997. This scholarship fund was established in her honor recognizing the sacrifices Susan and Joe underwent getting the PAOS off the ground and sustaining the organization in the early years. The establishment of this memorial scholarship fund was to cultivate and attract young physician assistant students into the field of orthopaedics. Initially, one $500 scholarship was awarded to an outstanding second year PA student. This award has grown over the years, and the PAOS Foundation has commited to offering (4) $5,000 scholarships this year. Each year during the Annual PAOS CME Conference, PAOS will honor each recipient with their scholarship award. The PAOS hopes that this scholarship will attract deserving students who are considering a career in orthopaedics.
