UTeach South – A Minor in Secondary Science(s) and Math Education that leads to a Class B Certification to teach 6-12th grade in Alabama.

Teacher Candidacy

Teacher Candidacy is the professional component of the program. Courses within this component (EDU 326, EDU 440, and EDU 470) are restricted to students who have been admitted.

Admission Requirements

  1. Declared UTeach minor
  2. Application for Admission to Teacher Candidacy
  3. Completed courses: CA 110; EDU 126 or 127; EDU 325; EH 102 or 105
  4. 4. Minimum GPAs of 2.5:
    • USA: 2.5
    • Teaching Field: 2.5
    • Professional Studies: 2.5
    • Program: 2.5
  5. Junior classification
  6. Liability insurance
  7. Successful dispositions inteview

Foreign Language Exemption

Students are encouraged to speak with their advisor about pursuing their foreign language credit, however if UTeach South is chosen, Arts and Science students are exempt from the foreign language requirement.
