Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity research is a core focus at SoC. The School has earned redesignation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance / Cyber Defense through 2021. Cybersecurity researchers Dr. Todd Andel and Dr. Todd McDonald won an NSF Scholarships for Service grant in 2013 and been renewed through 2021, designed to increase the number of qualified students entering the fields of Information Assurance and Cybersecurity. SoC students can elect to do an Information Assurance concentration in any major.
Our faculty’s research includes work on software protection and exploitation, moving target defense, secure software engineering, digital forensics, cloud security, side-channel analysis, critical infrastructure protection including aviation and automotive system security and the security of additive manufacturing, SCADA, medical device security, cybersecurity technology transfer to practice (TTP), voting systems, and more.
