The Caldwell Scholarship
The Caldwell Endowment has provided scholarship funds for more than 50 students in the College of Arts and Sciences to study abroad.
Since 1994, the James and Ivel Caldwell Scholarship has assisted many students at USA to achieve international training for future careers. The late Dr. Caldwell, who served as vice president during USA’s early years, was also an acclaimed educator in Alabama and in foreign countries, including Indonesia, Iraq and Jordan. The Caldwell Endowment gives scholarships annually to students in the College of Arts and Sciences who will study abroad. More than fifty students have been able to study abroad thanks to this scholarship.
Established by Dr. Barry and Mechelle Nowlin, the Nowlin-Caldwell Scholarship
(previously the Caldwell Murphy High School Award) has been helping
students study abroad since 2006. Eighteen students have been able to study in Asia,
Europe, and South America thanks to this scholarship.
