Lost and Found
Lost something in the Student Center? We're here to help!
Student Center Services collects and stores items found throughout the Student Center and surrounding areas. Our goal is to reunite lost belongings with their owners while ensuring all items are handled securely and responsibly.
If you find an item in the Student Center, please turn it in to Student Center Services, Room 150, or give it to a Student Center staff member.
For everyone's safety:
- Do not open bags, wallets, or other personal belongings.
- Do not handle suspicious or potentially hazardous items. Notify Student Center staff or University Police.
All items turned in will be documented and stored in a designated location.
If you believe you lost an item in the Student Center, stop by Student Center Services, Room 150, or contact our office.
When asking about a lost item, please be prepared to provide:
A description of the item
The approximate date and location it was lost
Any identifying details that may help verify ownership
To claim an item: You must present a valid photo ID and provide a detailed description
of the item. Additional proof of ownership may be required for valuable belongings.
Lost and found items are held for 90 calendar days from the date they are received, unless a different procedure is required for certain items.
We encourage individuals to claim their belongings as soon as possible.
When an item can be identified as belonging to a specific individual, Student Center staff may attempt to contact the owner using available university contact information.
After the designated holding period, unclaimed items may be donated, recycled, or disposed of in accordance with university procedures.
Whenever possible, eligible items may be donated to university-supported resources, including the Jaguar Clothes Closet or Jag Pantry.
Items containing personal information, valuable property, or requiring special handling will be managed according to applicable university procedures.
Student Center Services maintains a centralized inventory of all items turned in to Lost and Found to ensure accurate tracking and accountability.
Each item is assigned a unique identification number and documented upon receipt. Records include the item's description, date received, storage location, and final disposition.
When an item is claimed, donated, or disposed of, the inventory is updated to reflect the action taken. All records are maintained for a minimum of seven years in accordance with applicable university record retention requirements.
Access to Lost and Found records is limited to authorized Student Center personnel to protect personal information and maintain the integrity of the process.
- Items suspected to be stolen, illegal, or related to a crime will be turned over to University Police and documented accordingly.
- Items required by University policy to be handled by another office (e.g., parking permits, university property, asset-tagged equipment) will be routed to the appropriate office.
- If an identification card remains unclaimed after 90 days, it will be mailed to the appropriate issuing state agency in accordance with applicable requirements.
